What We Do

To achieve success in an organization, our people can draw upon extraordinary experience and depth of resources.

Our services are available in three practice areas: Leadership, Teamwork, and Organizational Effectiveness. In each practice, we offer our clients assessments, training, and consulting services. A Charter Oak project may involve one or more of these areas, depending on the size and scope of the project.

Working closely with clients, we provide the right kind of help to strengthen their capability of delivering superior results. We help our clients achieve exceptional outcomes with customized, integrated approaches designed with them, based on their needs, and focused on their goals . . .

For example, for a major law firm engaged in a change project, we planned, defined and facilitated workshops with the partners to explore key questions about how the firm would be managed. We planned an off-site retreat where the final proposals were presented to the partners for their review. And, we managed the team’s dynamics to ensure that everyone’s point of view would be heard. Our contribution: Charter Oak expertise in organization alignment and leadership development.

For a leading company in the securities industry, having productive teams was a major priority. We were retained to communicate the idea and objectives of high-performing teams directly to team members. Teams were asked to examine barriers that prevented progress in the company and determine what other groups in the organization could do to enhance performance. Outdoor experiential activities were used to enable the team to learn new ways of working together.

The result in this case mirrored what we see repeatedly in client companies: dramatically increased commitment among key members of the firm and to each other. Greater clarity around roles, responsibilities and expectations. Enhanced communication and trust at all working levels. Our contribution: Charter Oak expertise in teamwork and organizational effectiveness.

Charter Oak recently worked with a leading regional medical institution during a critical change period. In close partnership with the institution’s new chief executive, we provided resources in key areas:
  • Executive Team Alignment to develop a shared vision, mission, and values; clarify roles and responsibilities: and establish open communication.
  • Executive coaching of senior executives, using a constructive feedback process to improve leadership performance.
  • Change management workshops at all levels within the institution to explain and enlist support for change.
  • Customized teamwork sessions for 60 non-professional, non-medical staff to gain commitment, build enthusiasm and sharpen focus.
  • Merger consultation with two new medical centers to integrate new doctors and professionals with existing on-staff colleagues.
